2022-08-21 30km and other race details

Hi Members,

Just to let you know what we plan for Sunday.

Any volunteers for the “Office, etc” (help for Margaret) would be appreciated.

The normal Club event distances are (1) 7.64km and (2) 11.35km, from Lions Park, Wyong. Open to all.

(1) Turning anti clockwise at a very large, yellow, Council Water Quality Testing Buoy at the big bend at Tacoma, and returning to a small (5l) Blue Buoy at Lions Park.

(2) Turning anti clockwise at the large RED POLE (navigation) near the mouth of Wyong River, and returning to the small Blue Buoy at Lions Park.

The 30km distance is achieved by proceeding to the RED POLE, near the mouth of Wyong River, turn anti clockwise,

returning to turn anticlockwise at a small (15l) yellow buoy, 100 metres downstream of the Start, (at Lions Park),

proceeding again to the RED POLE, turn anti clockwise,

returning to turn anti clockwise at the small yellow buoy, at Lions Park,

proceeding to the very large, yellow, Council Water Testing Buoy (see picture below) at the big bend at Tacoma, turn anti clockwise,

returning to Finish at the small Blue Buoy at Lions Park.

A Marine Rescue Vessel will be stationed in sight of the RED POLE, then follow the last competitor home to Lions Park.

This year, Competitor/s who are CCP Members, with the Fastest Time, are eligible to have their name/s inscribed on the Van Stappen Trophy – begun 1974.

Entry Fees are $4 for Members, $5 for Visitors – payable on the day.

Club Races start from 9:00am.

30km starts from 8:00am, for theoretical Finish Time of 11:30am. Race Co-ordinator and Safety, Nick Naughton, 0418 446 009.

As all races are Handicapped, visitors are asked to supply their estimated elapsed time, and craft, with colour. Lifejackets to be worn.

There is a convenience Store in Warner Avenue – 500m.

Wyong Bowling Club, for meals, etc, is next door to Lions Park, along with parking.
