2024-06-09 CCP Summer Series Race 08

Hi Members and Friends,
A warm and sunny day – fairly good paddling conditions, with some breeze.
Regular Hunter Valley Visitor, Russell, is enjoying a welcome return to good health with his best time in at least six years!
Max – whose affection we have to share with the fine vessel, the James Craig – had a good day.
Marni had a good day also, with her best time this year, in K1.
The other Marnie, (not to confuse), was consistent.
Another Visitor from the Northern Region, who we have not seen for some years, was Ron. He is a stalwart of the Paddling community, who has contributed immensely to our Sport – and still paddling a K1 (of his own professional manufacture.)
Vernise and Paul took advantage of the fine day, to return to form.
Clive, Sue, Micheal, Allan and David all performed well, and did not surprise the Handicapper.
Ozzie is “getting back into it” after an extended tour of the outback.
David, Cam and Rob have not been able to train lately, but are keen to “return to the fray!”
In the “post race discussion,” some of the “Veterans” were reminiscing on days gone by. We recalled that Jim Fuller once had a group of over three hundred youngsters in his “Karenlyn Canoe Club” on Lake Macquarie! No “devices” to distract, eh!
Thank you especially to Diana and Margaret for again keeping our sometimes “unruly Starters” in line, and faithfully recording their performances!
Thank you also, to the many helpers who contributed to another enjoyable day at The Park!
Regards,
Nick.
ps. apologies for the lack of optical quality of the pic of the two Hunter Valley Lads!
