Results for Summer Race 5, 29th April 2018

“Call a Doctor!” Not one, but two responded! After a bit of haggling, Marg Cook and Sally Verheul started at 9:11, and piloted the Cooks’ SLR2 to a spectacular win today! To their credit, they reduced Marg and Rob’s best time, this year, by two seconds! (now, there’s a challenge for you, Rob!)

Not to be left out, Rob Cook, paddling a single for the first time here, in nearly three years, finished six seconds behind!

The new race pairing of Cam and Lyn Tunbridge finished third in the extraordinary time of 56:47!

Gina Weekes returned to form with a PB! The first of another five PBs!
Charly Welland & Guy Holloway, Peter McGee, Anne Moore, Warwick Nichols, Greg Hillier and Andrew Wilkinson, who also had the fastest time today – possibly the fastest on this course – which only eclipsed Lachlan Blakewell’s time last race, by one second! Lachie had an “unscheduled swim” today, and still recorded 52:55, so it will be exciting racing when he and Andrew next meet!

Also in the “51+ minutes group”, was HVPC’s Ray Baxter & Shane Tagg in K2, with first time Visitor, (?) Luke Eltham also excelling.

Interestingly, HVPC’s Peter McGee, began his racing career with CCCC – August 1997!

Aidan Shipton, Adam Gray, and Alby Cobb finished ahead of “Finish Time.”

In the 7.5km section, HVPC’s Brian Dale finished ahead of David Hoey, Lew Zaska produced a PB, as did James Sealy! Well done, lads! David Hopkins and I could not be separated on the line, after a serious sprint! Clive Adams and Owen Walton were on our heels!

Full results can be found here!

Did someone leave a pair of Havianas thongs, size 7/8 behind today?

Thank you “Starter/ Timekeeper” – Margaret, “Caterers” – Anne Moore, Owen Walton & Sally Verheul; and all who helped with the chores today.

See you “on the water?”

Regards,

Nick.
