CCP Winter Series Race 3 Results

Very pleasant day, but a little windy on the water!

Almost opposite wind direction to normal! It was hard work heading for home on Tacoma straight!

Visiting Newy Paddlers, Sally Verheul and Russell Brown, have “upgraded” to a K2, recording an almost identical time to their last outing, here.

Cam Tunbridge in a close finish with Mick Carroll who paddled his recent K1 acquisition!

Visiting Hunter Valley Paddler – Greg Hillier – also scored a PB in his speedy machine!

There were many good performances by the rest of the field – by both Members and Visitors – perhaps most noteworthy, was David Hopkins, with a 1 year PB!

And from Owen Walton – Perfect day down on the Wyong River for today’s race; sunny, warm, light breeze – and this is mid winter! A couple of new boats joined the fleet today; Mick Carroll with his new Vajda K1 and Charley Wellard in her new Long Rec Fusion – 1st time in the water today.

In the 7.5 Km “sprint” event, John Wood had a clear win with a dead heat for 2nd between Lynne Tunbridge and Owen.

The “main event” was a victory to those “Newy” raiders Sally and Russell in yet another new boat – a K2. The rest of the fleet followed closely behind. Some paddlers reported a bit of  tricky wind up near the half way mark, but all boats remained upright. Mick and Cam had a close one going stroke for stroke all race,

The “logo competition” has been extended to allow all to get their entries in; some interesting ideas have already been received.

Don’t forget Winterfest next Sunday at picturesque Toronto – 15 bucks and we’ll even throw in breakfast.
