2025-12-07 CCP Winter Series Race 11
Hi Members and Friends,
Following the high winds last night, there was a lot of bark and leaves in the River, which caught on some bows. and slowed progress considerably! Still some wind around, which saw results generally slower than last race. Inevitably, I have to comment on my own performance, which was slightly better than last race, timewise. Given the conditions, it was an improvement. Despite some health concerns recently, I decided that “today was the day!” “Flat out” from the start – hoping I would not “hit the wall!” Success – and I cannot deny it – it was satisfying!
Following his HCC success, Andrew nearly caught me! Likewise Cam, who improved on his last race. Noel, and David, were only slightly slower. Aidan, and Murray both did excellent times. Max, Jenny and Marni would have found the conditions unfavourable, but still “fought on”. We have not seen Adam for a while, but he has not lost any of his speed! Clive is having “issues,” and is considering a craft change. I think Paul and Vernise were demoralised by the continual debris slowing their progress – I’m working on a “fix” for them!
We had a little Presentation for Series Winners, but most were not present! The short course Winner, John, was unable to attend, due to suffering a serious injury, when attempting to respond to a medical emergency suffered by a fellow kayaker. Diana chose the prizes very thoughtfully. Clive was a close second in the Summer Series. David was second Overall – third in the Summer Series, and first in the Winter Series. Other Winners were Malcolm, Allan, Ken, Russell and Marnie. Today’s Lucky Prizes were won by Cam and Marni.
As usual, Diana and Margaret did a great job with the Timekeeping and Refreshments. Today’s Lucky Prizes were won by Cam and Marni.
Thank you to everyone who helped out during the year.
Back again in February!
Regards,
Nick.
