Results from Winter Series Race 2, 22nd July 2018

Good to see Anne Moore back paddling well, after a bit of a rough time, lately.
HVPC Visitors Sally Verheul and Darrin Jenkins took full advantage of their “unknown ability” to finish second, getting back in under the hour, in excellent winter conditions.
A “training run” led to an almost record performance by Andrew Wilkinson, finishing just three seconds ahead of very promising young visitor, Sam Djorden, who had just finished an hour’s “warm up.”
The familiar visiting double team from Port Stephens, Charly Wellard and Guy Holloway, produced a consistent time of just over an hour.
Warwick Nichols seems to have “tamed his new beast” and would be fairly happy with a “sub hour” time, finishing just ahead of Mick Carroll who is returning to form.
David Hopkins reduced his time by almost half a minute in only his second 11.35km trip since last year.
Aidan Shipton and Paul Stone completed the field of twelve paddlers in the 11.35km section.
In the 7.58km distance, Lew Zaska surprised the Handicapper with a surprising performance, and visiting Newy Paddler, Ian Davey successfully converted from single blade “Canadian” paddling, to an ocean ski, in fine style!
John Wood continued his recent improvement, and well known Newy Paddler, Russell Brown enjoyed the conditions, giving his “new” shoulder a good test.
Owen Walton and Nick Naughton completed the field of six.

We enjoyed the sunshine and Morning Tea, organised by Anne Moore this race, before the Presentation of Certificates and drawing of the two separate Lucky prizes won by Sally and Darrin.
Thank you Timekeepers, Diana and Margaret.
