Results from Summer Series Race 8, 17th June 2018

Firstly, I must thank our Timekeepers, Diana and Margaret for their usual great job for us, today!
And secondly, our thanks to Cam and Lyn Tunbridge for “Tea and Bikkies.”
In the 11.35km section, we welcomed five Paddlers from Avoca Kayak Club, with Geeb Smith finishing close behind winners, Alby Cobb and Geoff Dawes, from BWP.
Dennis Ricketts, AKC, was third .
Ray Weekes kept his new K1 upright in the sometimes windy conditions.
HVPC’s Shane Tagg was fifth, with “composite Club crew” of Cam Tunbridge, CCP, and Gene Burns, HVPC, sixth – and fastest time.
AKC’s Lachlan Jonquires led the rest of the field – Warwick Nichols, HVPC, Scott Cunningham, AKC, and Gina Weekes, BWP, and Max Lyons, CCP.
In the 7.58km section, CCP’s Clive Adams triumphed in a hard fought finish from fellow Club Member, Owen Walton, with Nick Naughton, CCP, Rob McPherson, CCP, Brian Dale, HVPC, Lew Zaska, HVPC, David Hopkins, CCP, John Wood, CCP, and Toby Cracknell, AKC, piloting a “not often seen C 1”, which is paddled with a single blade, kneeling on one knee. Having a fair bit of “freeboard,” the C1 would have been a handful in the windy conditions, which resulted in slightly slower times today.
Full results from today’s race can be found here!
Below is a pic of the happy, winning crew!
Next race is this years Interclub race for Central Coast and Newcastle Clubs hosted by CCP at Lions Park, Wyong on Sunday 1st July.
Regards,
Nick.
