CCP Summer Series Race 6, 19th May 2019-2

A perfect autumn day for our races on Wyong River, from Lions Park.
It was a bit busy before start time, with a seemingly novice Scout Group setting out for Tacoma, then heading across the bay to Chittaway Point, and up Ourimbah Creek to Sunshine Park. There are still adventurous kids around!
Dave Spencer gave it “his all”, improving 2:25, to be first Visitor home – good effort, Dave.
First Member back, was Clive Adams, with his best time for a couple of years, followed by Rob McPherson, then Anne Moore.
Past Member, Troy Spencer, who we haven’t seen for a while, hasn’t lost any of his brilliance, with fastest time of the day!
Heidi Duncan was 16 seconds ahead of Handicap Time, and Cam Mehmet just 11 seconds behind.
Mick Carroll and Aidan Shipton, again fought it out, though nearly half a minute slower than last race – possibly due to the mostly unseen, subtle, flow out.
Nathan Podlich was also a little slower than last race.
We welcomed “First – time Visitor”, from Hunter Valley, Steven Wade, paddled his K1 for a “bench mark”.
Warwick Nichols had his slowest time this year, so will be looking to get back to “sub hour” times, as usual – but won one of the “Lucky Prizes” as consolation. David Hopkins won the other “Luck Prize”.
David Hopkins and I contested the shorter distance.
Good luck for those accepting the “Scotland Island Challenge” or making the trek to Burrill Lake.
See you for Race 7, on the 9th June?
Regards,
Nick.
