Results for Summer Race 3, 11th March 2018

Though the sun came out with a vengeance after the race, it was quite pleasant on the River and provided excellent racing conditions.

I was very pleased to get a compliment on the Handicapping, from one of the State’s most experienced Paddlers – Rob Cook! I replied that consistency from the Paddlers was needed to achieve close (exciting) finishes!

Most finished “ahead of handicap time” today, (8:55 & 9:15), so I will add the number of seconds per kilometre improvement since their last start (in the same craft.)

Andrew Wilkinson had a PB & fastest time, and was first home (-58) – congratulations Andrew!

HVPC Visitor, Shane Tagg, paddling a single here for the first time, was second, with a very handy elapsed time! We hope to see Shane competing here, more often!

HVPC’s Ray Baxter (Solo Man!) also returned a PB! (-88)   Congratulations, Ray!

Second Member was the consistent and determined Anne Moore.(-6)

CCP  Vice President, Cam Tunbridge also earned a PB! Congratulations Cam! (-116)

Mick Carroll is also getting back to his best! (-54)

Warwick Nichols was back in his K1, for a consistent result. (-7)

Sixth in Members’ position was the very experienced Husband and Wife “Cook” team, also getting close to peak form. (-77)

Evergreen Max Lyons also joined the “improvers!” (-36)

Consistent former Member, Adam Gray, was 12 seconds ahead of the finish time of 9:15. (-3)

Gina Weekes was still 8th Member home, despite paddling with a one minute start time penalty for her win last race!  A PB by four seconds! Congratulations Gina! (- 41)

Perhaps a little “rusty”, Aidan Shipton returned for his first race since November, but still managed a time not far off his best last year. (+32)

Suffering a very heavy cold, Alby Cobb accepted a wash ride from the Handicapper (very unusually!) for about three kilometres, but still overtook me!

Thank you, everyone, for all the help today! Especially the Timekeepers, Diana and Margaret.

Regards,

Nick.
