Report from Winter Series Race 6, 24th September 2017

The predicted hot day was not so bad on the River, as the humidity was low! Those who did the short distance were happy, though!

The big contest of the day was between Aidan Shipton and new Member, Leigh Wilson. Neither had a smooth run though – Aidan had to swap to his own paddle during the race, as his mate had used it in error, and Leigh bent his rudder, and stopped for repair!

Darren Forbes (Newy) and Heidi Duncan performed well in their first try of the Zero Tolerance – and were only one second over their predicted time! They were doubtless spurred on by Marg and Rob Cook in the Club TK2.

Max Lyons volunteered to start a couple of minutes later – just as well – or he would have taken the top spot three times in a row! Nice gesture, Max!

Though Alby Cobb has not raced here for some months, he was not far off his best!

It looked like Cam Tunbridge “took it easy”, after his Myall Classic triumph last Saturday, and Andrew Kucyper finished strongly, after a spell “off the water”, due to ill health.

In the 7.5km section, Ray and Gina Weekes “returned to the podium” in fine style, after their holiday. Myself, David Hopkins, Jim Buckland and Peter Nickless were close behind.

New Member, James Sealy, had a successful “first race” in his Fenn Mako.
Full results from the day are available here!

The 7.5km Wednesday  evening Time Trials start again on Wednesday 4th October at Lions Park about 5:00pm – please let me know if you are coming, for a handicap start time.

We will have three distances available on the 8th October – 7.5km, 15km and 30km. Let me know your choice. Prizes for all distances, but no points toward the Pointscore.

Regards,

Nick.
