PNSW Marathon Race 2 – Woronora Results

Sunny skies and light winds greeted paddlers who made the trip to Woronora for Race 2 of the PNSW Marathon Series making a change from the recent rainy and stormy weather that seems to have gone on for so long as to become the norm. With 201 boats entered and good numbers in all Divisions, the racing was guaranteed to be close with the course offering up some narrow turns to pass through “the shute” as well as a few shallow sections that really increased the groan factor particularly when heading into the tidal flow. Reports from paddlers doing 20kms was that the shallow sections were particularly tough in the second lap and I’m sure most paddlers appreciated the barbecue and coffee wagon that was on-site to help top up the energy levels after the race.
11 paddlers from CCCC entered and we achieved some good results on the day to see the club sitting in 7th place on 32 points in the overall club standings.
