CCP Summer Series Race 3, 23rd February 2020

Hi Members and Friends,
Fairly good conditions, despite a bit of silt and mud at the “Steps,” which President Mick Carroll, Rob McPherson and John Wood cleared a path through.
Gina and Ray Weekes successfully gave their new K2 it’s first outing here, with Warwick Nichols shadowing their every move to secure a PB!
Cam Mehmet earned his PB the hard way, displaying great determination and grit!
His training partner, Rob McPherson, also put in a solid performance.
President, Mick Carroll, was rewarded with a PB, as he is starting to get his K1 moving well. Clarence Hines is regaining his K1 prowess, despite limited training time. Lew Zaska was only a few seconds off his PB. The Handicapper was happy to finish on “handicap time.”
Cam Tunbridge and Shane Tagg had the fastest time today, and were only a little over a minute off their best time, set some seven months ago.
Alby Cobb and Geoff Dawes backed up from a good performance yesterday, on Brisbane Water, against Mick Carroll, to almost repeat it here.
Nathan Podlich was only about a minute over his best, despite using a borrowed paddle, so we can expect him to return to form – especially if the weather settles down a bit, enabling some regular training! Clive Adams performed well, despite minimum training.
Mark Fisher, in a “new” craft, improved over two minutes, to win the 7.5km section, with the reliable John Wood second, and the lightly raced David Hopkins third. ( David misplaced a 140mm hatch from his Flyer – if anyone finds it, he would be grateful for it’s return).
The Inter Club competition (between Brisbane Water Paddlers, Hunter Valley Paddlesports Club and Central Coast Paddlers) has crept up on us, and is less than two weeks away! Saturday 7th March – more info later.
