CCP Summer Series Race 1, 26th January 2020

Hi Members and Friends,
A memorable Australia Day!
High humidity made most of the race a bit of a challenge!
But it didn’t faze David Hoey – he took over three minutes off his previous best to take out the 11.35km section! Mick Carroll was second, with Ray Weekes third. Fastest time was regular visitor Shane Tagg.
In the 7.5km section, evergreen Peter McGee produced a PB despite the conditions, closely followed by Brian Dale, Mark Fisher, Lew Zaska and John Wood.
Sally Verheul was unlucky to fall victim to a jet ski wake – he wasn’t going that fast, and he did try to keep as far away as possible! But, she was in safe hands, as three gallant lads ( Rob, Cam and Warwick) all volunteered to help her “remount!” It was an awkward bit of river bank. As a small recompense, I “promoted’ them 1 minute 8 seconds in the Results.
Thank you Diana and Margaret for Timekeeping and morning tea, and Simone Fisher for the photos.
Regards,
Nick.
