CCCC Time Trial 13, 1st March 2017

“What a difference a day makes!”
The evening before, the prediction was most discouraging for our Wednesday evening 7.5km Time Trial.
But conditions were perfect – no flow in the River – and a few cooling breezes!
First off was Peter Brennan, in his Flyer, having his first “competitive” paddle for about four years.
Then visiting Surf Club Paddler, Scott Cunningham, on his Interceptor Ski, followed closely by stalwart Jim Buckland, in his self built Medium Rec.
As he “is on a bit of a roll”, Rob McPherson was a couple of minutes further back, paddling his Flash.
Cameron Tunbridge, on his sleek Uno ski, started with Steve Hill and me – Macquarie double – a further four minutes back.
As we approached the half way turn, Scott seemed to have an unassailable lead, but with a kilometre or so to go, the singles were fairly closely packed – with a “less impossible” lead of a couple of hundred metres.
We were encouraged by Cam, beside us, who was saving his energy for a second lap.
Steve and I were unable to catch Rob, who finished about three lengths ahead.
Cam did the gentlemanly thing, and stayed beside us at the finish, with the three craft recording “current Series PBs.”
CCCC RACE 3 tomorrow – please let me know if you are coming – thank you to those who have already contacted me.
The rain has been confined to the coastal strip, so the River is almost unaffected, with no additional flow at present, and no change expected tomorrow.
Regards,
Nick.
