CCCC Summer Race 3, 5th March 2017

Almost no rain!
Just a short gust of wind, during the race, with some flow following the recent rain, which lengthened the return journey.
Despite this, five Members delivered PBs!
Four on skis – Lyn Crelly, Cam Tunbridge, Gina Weekes and Heidi Duncan – with the latter improving four minutes!
“Perennial Performers” – Marg and Rob Cook – piloting the Club TK2, were the fifth PB, but are “down playing” the achievement, claiming wash riding assistance!
Hunter Valley Paddlesports Club President, Ray Baxter, had fastest time with his PB. I think he “felt it” after his big effort – after all, he is not as young as the paddler in the iconic “Solo Man” ad of many years ago! Congratulations Ray!
Returning Tasman “James Craig Mariner”, Max Lyons, earned a second place, even giving our “injured soldier” – Owen Walton – a wash ride!
Everyone paddled well, with most finishing ahead of handicap time.
Welcome to Dave Hoey and Cameron Mehmet, who finished among the field.
Even the Handicapper, and partner, Steve Hill were not disappointed with their time, despite finishing last.
“Thank you” to all the helpers today, especially Vice President Dave McPherson, who stepped up to assist our regular Timekeeper, Margaret.
“Clean up Australia Day” was observed by Steve Hill, who started his visit to Lions Park with a rubbish collection.
We hope to post some pics on the Club website, from today.
Happy Paddling!
Nick.
