2022-04-03 CCP Summer Series Race 5
Hi Members and Friends,
The clouds parted and we enjoyed a lovely day!
The River was still up about 500mm, the water was still dirty with some flow in various places! There were many complimentary comments regarding the paddling venue, and the conditions.
We welcomed Visitors from BWP who performed well, and to their declared ability – which is appreciated by the Handicapper!
Performance of the Day was that of Karen Schofield – first back in the “Main Event!” A sleek new craft contributed, I’m sure, but it was an impressive display!
There were a couple of “new combinations” in K2s – Liz and Ian, from Windsor Canoe Club, (Ian for the first time) and “regular” – Warwick with Bernie, who we have not seen for a while!
A Member who we have not seen for four years, (following a “move”) was Jim – good to see you!
Jim and John had an epic battle in the 7.62km, with Jim just failing to catch John, on the line, after giving him two minutes start.
Mick Carroll was unable to attend, due to a “double iso” period, which is no fun!
David Hopkins is recuperating following surgery – no doubt looking forward to normal activities! (and we miss Diana too!)
Sadly, Vernise and Paul lost Vernise’s Mother last Thursday. We extend our condolences to her Family.
