2021-02-28 CCP Summer Series Race 3

Hi Members and Friends,
Good conditions for racing – a bit of cloud cover to shield us from the summer sun which came out in full force soon after!

Mick Carroll recorded his best time since October last year, with Cam Mehmet setting his best ever time since beginning paddling the Horizon Flyer in 2018.
Third, was Member, Greg Hillier, from Hunter Valley Paddlesports Club, who was just three seconds outside his PB!
Nathan Podlich, our Club President, is getting back to form, but Warwick Nichols was a little slower this race, possibly due to a change of craft.
Rob McPherson did not reproduce his sizzling form in the Wednesday evening “sprints” lately, due to an obvious problem with his eyes. Thanks for still turning up, Rob!

I believe recreational paddlers think we “racers” are crazy for pushing ourselves to the limit, but there is a reward when you know that you have “done your best” – even though you may not have won!
John Wood and I had a wonderful contest – very satisfying – with John probably equalling his previous best! (our 7.5km course has become a 7.62km course, following the repair and repositioning of the Water Quality Buoys – one of which we turn around.)

We are so appreciative of the job our Timekeepers do – thank you Diana and Margaret !

The Lucky Prizes were won by Warwick, Nathan and myself.

Despite the ongoing problems with the Council, the Mower Man did a great job this week, mowing the grass at Lions Park! He seems to get to it each three weeks.

Thanks also to Peter Walker and Diana for additional photos, today.

Regards,
Nick
